Cosplaying


1. What is your cosplay alias?
Eh.. I dunno. Let's just stick with my screen name <3

2. How many years have you cosplayed?
None, yet! But I want to start my very, very first cosplay as Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club.

3. How did you get into cosplaying?
Well, I have to blame my big sister. My big sister was the one who got me hooked on anime, and the one who said she wanted to go the the animecon. LOL! But I love it! So, sis, you have my weird thanks!

4. What was your first convention and how did it go?
Never been to one. But wish me luck!

5. How many cons have you been to?
Zero and counting!

6. How many cosplays have you done?
Zero! But I would love to do as many as I can <3

Your Cosplays

7. What was your first cosplay and why did you choose it?
None. But I do want to cosplay as:
Haruhi Fujioka from OHSHC
San from Princess Mononoke
Kagura or Tohru from Fruits Basket
More, if I can think of any

8. What is your favorite cosplay you've done so far?
I haven't done one yet. But I think I will be really good at Haruhi. Because we look a lot a like. I guess I can have some of her personality traits.

9. What is your least favorite you've cosplayed?
I hope I do not get any. But I most likely will.

10. What cosplay is the most uncomfortable?
Cosplaying shouldn't be uncomfortable. Being yourself is something to be proud of! <3

Process

11. How do you research the cosplay before you make it?
Of course I'm going to familiarize myself with the character/series that I’m cosplaying as. This includes actually watching the show (or reading the manga), looking at pictures of cosplayers and animated pictures.

12. Do you sew your cosplays yourself?
LOL I fail at sewing. My sister Sarah and my Mother are pretty good at sewing. But I think I will just work over the summer and buy me a costume.

13. If so, how did you learn to sew? If not, do you plan to learn?
I’d love to be able to sew! But I just epically fail.

14. Do you make your own props?
I’ve never had a prop before. If I can make it, I will; I will mostly buy stuff.

As long as it’s relatively easy, I can manage.

16. Do you style your own wigs?
Wigs? OMG! That is a really good idea. My hair is really short right now, and it looks like Haruhi's if I style it that way. But that is a good idea <3

17. What other skills do you use to create your cosplays?
I dunno. I have skills?

18. What skill has been most useful for making your cosplay?
I guess my skill is going to be buying cosplay outfits online.

19. What is the hardest thing when making a cosplay?
Not being able to sew! ^-^ But that is why I have you, Katherine.

20. What was the biggest screw up you've had making a cosplay?
I haven't cosplayed yet. I will mess up though, of course.

21. How often do you injure yourself while making a cosplay?
I haven't hurt myself yet. But I am a cults and have weak ankles

Budget

22. On average, how much will you spend on cosplay in one year?
Oh! The Haruhi costume is like $110 (ish) So, if I do cosplay. I will only buy, like, one costume a year.

23. Do you try to stay cheap or do you splurge on materials?
Depending on what your version of "cheap" is. $110 is a lot of money for a 15 year old girl like me. So, yes... I guess I am putting a lot into this.

Hmm. I don't know. I really don't have any friends that actually like anime. So I might as well chill with my sis and crash her part. Haha, Sarah you can suck it up <3 (lol)

Of course ^-^

Ahahahaha no. No yuri for me... But I would consider a skit.

32. How do you react to cosplayers dressed as character from the same anime/game/etc?
Hmm. Most likely speak to them, if they wish to speak with me. I'd most likely ask for tips if their costume was better than me.

33. Do you try to duplicate your character's expressions, walk, movements, etc?
LOL, I think I will. I will do my best!

I guess...

Competition

I really want to!!! Doing a skit would be SO much fun!

Nope. But my sister and her friends are doing a dance. GO HERMANA!!

I love watching skits! Hehe.

Okay, I live in a really small town, and If people saw me cosplaying, I would either be made fun of (that's not new of course)... yeah. I would be made fun of. But no worries, right? Besides, I am in the city, so I don't know what reaction I would get.

48. What do you take into consideration when picking a character to cosplay?
Mainly their outfit/appearance/personality.

It might become serious. But I think it will always just be a fun game! <3

50. What is your favorite thing about cosplay?
It's just like a game for me. In a game, especially when you win, you feel good, happy, and a little break from everyday life. Though, cosplaying does have, in a weird way, benefits. But it does have a long list of downsides. As long as a person can tell reality from fiction is the most important thing. ^.^

Eh, none as of yet.

52. What is it that makes you keep cosplaying?
It's a game, therefore, it is fun. ^-^

53. How would you like cosplaying to change in the future?
People can believe what they want to believe, I am not going to go out of my way to change someone's mind.

I’d especially like to improve on my posing skills for photoshoots and cons. Perhaps become more photogenic?
